  • What was your motivation to lose weight? 

    • ​I had been gaining 5 pounds per year even with working out 3 to 5 times a week. I tried different kinds of diets but any weight I lost would come right back.  Orange Theory suggested Dr. Julie. 

  • How has your health problems/weight affected your life? 

    • ​I didn't have too many health problems yet, however, I am sure if I didn't correct some eating habits with continued weight gain I would have issues in the future. I just wasn't feeling good.

  • How did the Begin with Wellness Program help you achieve your weight loss goals?

    • ​First of all Dr. Julie broke the program down into easily understandable pieces. No calorie counting. Just weighing the food and there were accountability and support. I was able to lose 20 pounds!

  • How has your life been changed since completing the program?

    • The best change is I feel good about myself. I am confident in my ability to keep the weight off because I am still working with Dr. Julie and using  Tracker to stay on track.

. . . .I decided to take my health into my own hands….I have heard so much about a “Functional Medicine” approach to REVERSING chronic disease processes and thought I NEED to give this an honest try.  I will tell you that in September of 2020 my labs are all in optimal or moderate levels and continuing to improve!

 

The journey started in April of 2020 – Dr. McLaughlin prescribed a metabolic nutritional program that would result in some weight loss and clean eating to get the lifestyle changes started.  I can tell you that this program by far was the best I have ever tried – I ate so many vegetables and portions of proteins and fruit that had me feeling so good and energized I couldn’t’ believe it was also taking the COVID pounds off that I had gained!  At the end of 6 weeks I had lost a total of 18 pounds and 16 inches! 

 

The next part of the care plan was to get my labs drawn – Dr. McLaughlin ordered these in May of 2020 and there was an improvement in the cholesterol numbers but they were still not moderate or optimal.  Dr. McLaughlin reviewed these with me – added some additional nutritional recommendations and added some supplements to my routine.  Keeping up with the nutritional changes I had made and adding the nutritional supplements – I am so happy to report that my labs drawn in September were terrific!  I saw a cardiologist who was shocked at the turn around in my labs – asked me how did I do it?
